Win or Lose

My sister, Diane, and I sometimes played board games together when we were young.  My sister was not a good loser!  Every single time we played and it looked like she was going to lose, she would knock the board off the table.  If she was the one winning we finished the game, otherwise, I had to pick all the pieces up and put the game away.  She got up and walked away, laughing at me saying "ha, ha you didn't win"!  That was alright I didn't mind, but it did bother me that she would never help put the game away or pick it up.  Lots of times mom and dad would play games with us, even grandma, that was so fun!!  If any arguing started or complaining, our folks threatened to put the game away.  Di usually was the instigator of this as I mentioned before, she did not like to lose.  But she can't win every time either.  A few times she got so unruly mom or dad gave her a spanking  to try to teach her to be a good sport.  She never learned to just play for the fun of playing together.  Di was very stubborn and would not listen to anyone, it was her way or no way.  Today however, she does much better at playing games.  When she wins, she just loves to rub it in and sing, or dance right in front of me saying things like "nae, nae I win", or "gotcha, you didn't win this one"!  She can be rather funny sometimes but it still does not bother me when she says that, at least we have gotten past pushing everything on the floor or tipping over the board.  It is still hard for her to lose several in a row, but now she will suggest we change the game or she says she doesn't want to play anymore.  See, she has learned to control her temper better and communicate verbally, in a nice way, she is done playing.
